For Consultants & Implementers
Your client buys it. You set it up. It keeps running after you leave.
Each license belongs to one legal entity at $5,000, perpetual, with full source code. You bring the framework, configure it during the engagement, and hand over something that works without you.
Pick your role
Private Equity Operating Partner
One scorecard. Every portco. No new SaaS contract per company.
You own twelve portfolio companies, and every one of them has a different performance tool. Lattice at one, 15Five at another, spreadsheets at three, and nothing at all at the rest. You've been asked to standardize, and every vendor quote comes back wanting a multi-year contract per portco plus implementation fees per portco. The math doesn't work.
Primer is a one-time $5,000 license per legal entity. Each portco buys its own license, you deploy the same framework across all of them, and the operating team gets a standard five-tier scorecard they can actually compare across the portfolio. Total cost for twelve portcos: $60,000, one time, forever. No renewals. No seat fees as a portco grows. No consolidation headache when one gets sold.
Every metric has an owner, a weight, and a tier. Every leader sees a composite score for their scope. Cross-functional disputes go through a formal Inquiry process that doesn't require you to fly to the portco to resolve it. When you swap a CEO, the incoming CEO sees exactly where the business stands on day one, in the same format as every other business in the fund.
Next step
Take 30 minutes to walk one portco team through the framework. If they don't get it, you haven't committed to anything. If they do, the portco buys the license that afternoon.
The licensing rule (read this first)
One perpetual source-code license covers one legal entity. The organization that will use Primer buys the license directly. You recommend it, configure it, and deploy it — but the license belongs to the organization, not the consultant.
What that means for you
- If you run Primer internally for your consulting practice and no client data is ever stored in it: one license covers your practice.
- The moment you deploy it for a client and that client's employee data lives in it, that deployment needs its own license.
- Three clients, three separate deployments, three separate companies' data: three licenses. Each is $5,000 (plus any applicable taxes or fees), perpetual, licensed to the organization.
- A PE operating partner running Primer across 12 portcos: 12 licenses. One per portco.
Why the rule is strict
Primer is priced to make this easy. At $5,000 per legal entity, perpetual, no recurring fees, unlimited users, it's meant to fit inside an engagement fee or a capital-expense line, not to be multiplied across companies on a single seat. Mixing multiple clients' data into one deployment breaks the data-sovereignty model customers buy Primer for in the first place.
How consultants deploy Primer
1. The organization buys a license
$5,000, one-time. The organization receives the complete source code as a zip.
2. Rebrand & configure
Adjust colors, logo, wording, and metric templates to match the client's industry and framework.
3. Deploy on client infrastructure
Install on a server the client owns — Docker Compose, direct install, or whatever container platform they prefer. No phone-home, no external dependencies. Their data stays on their network.
4. Integrate authentication
If the client uses an existing identity provider — Entra, Okta, Google Workspace, SAML, LDAP — connect it to the documented auth seam. With AI assistance, this is a lighter lift than IdP work used to be. Scope it as a clean line item with the client.
5. Train and hand off
Walk their team through the framework. When your engagement ends, the platform stays with them, they have the source.
